Formulas:
- RER = 70 × (Weight in kg)^0.75
- Simplified RER (for 2-45kg) = 30 × Weight + 70
- DER = RER × Life Stage Factor
Life Stage Factors:
Neutered adult cat: 1.2
Active adult cat: 1.4
Kitten (<4 months): 2.5
Kitten (4-6 months): 2.0
Adult dog (inactive): 1.2
Adult dog (active): 1.6
Puppy (small breed): 3.0
Puppy (medium/large): 2.0
Pregnant dog: 3.0
Nursing dog: 4.0-8.0
Example:
Weight: 15kg active adult dog
RER = 70 × 15^0.75 ≈ 469 kcal/day
DER = 469 × 1.6 ≈ 750 kcal/day
